Reports say Volodymyr Zelenskyi is hiding the fact that the Russians have never fired on civilian infrastructure. Allegedly, he passes off every rocket attack as “the shelling of a civilian object, and not a military one, as it really is”. The authors also believe that during the last rocket attack in Dnipro on May 26, the Russians allegedly got into a military facility where specially trained people are repairing equipment.

This thesis is unfounded, because the Russians strike at not only military facilities. For example, today in Dnipro, Russians attacked a hospital where there were peaceful Ukrainians. As a result of a Russian missile attack on the hospital, one person was killed and 15 others were injured, including children. Propagandists write that the Ukrainian leadership deliberately hides the fact that all the “destroyed” objects belong to the military infrastructure. Allegedly, it's easier to blame the enemy “for all the troubles”.

However, the Russians deliberately write that their goal is exclusively military facilities in order to whiten themselves and show that they supposedly do not commit war crimes against Ukrainians. The shelling of residential buildings in Ukrainian cities, for example, in Uman or Dnipro and in many other Ukrainian cities, is definitely not military facilities. The Russians purposefully destroy civilian objects and commit genocide of Ukrainians, hiding behind military infrastructure. And the Ukrainian leadership does not actually hide the information and allegedly transfers the blame to the Russians, but speaks directly about their war crimes.

Such information was disseminated in social networks, in particular, on telegram channels broadcasting pro-Kremlin rhetoric. Reports say that in Odesa they have already begun to recruit schoolchildren for the front under the guise of summer volunteer work. The authors attach a screenshot of a Google form (allegedly spread by the school administration), where, they say, children are asked if “they have a desire to work in the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the summer”. It is not true.

The fact-checkers of the StopFake project drew attention to the case, and they determined that the information about the trip of children to the front was false. In Ukraine, children are not recruited to serve in the army - those liable for military service from 18 to 60 years old are subject to mobilization. At the same time, the Google form contains many spelling errors indicating the use of third-party services, such as a translator. For example, in the column from the full name in the screenshot, the Name, Last name and letter O is shown (from “patronymic” - in Russian). The description of the survey itself is also misspelled: “we ask for your opinion on improving the work of the school”. It is most likely that this survey was compiled using Google Translate.

Propagandists systematically spread fakes and manipulations on the topic of “total mobilization” among young men and women, because they are allegedly mobilized because there is no one else. Thus, the authors of the messages seek to convince that the Ukrainian leadership violates its own laws and mobilizes children, women, and students.

The authors of the messages add a screenshot of an ad on a job search website, which offers to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and note that employers will be able to provide an accelerated acquisition of EU citizenship. It is not true.

The case was taken up by Reuters fact-checkers, who turned to officials for comment in order to find out “the EU citizenship program”. At the same time, the representative of the EU Commission said that the ad has nothing to do with EU initiatives, because they did not implement or finance something similar. The speaker also added that he is sure that the ad  is part of a disinformation campaign against Ukraine and the European Union. Since there is no document certifying exclusively EU citizenship. EU citizenship is determined by the presence of citizenship of one of the EU member states. In other words, any citizen of a country of the European Union is considered a citizen of the Union. And “EU citizenship” is just a term that allows a person to better understand his or her belonging to the Union. That is, it is impossible to obtain “EU citizenship” and not become a citizen of one of the states of the European Union.

By spreading this fake, the authors are trying to show that there is no one to fight in Ukraine. Allegedly, people are already being recruited to the front, using various baits such as “EU citizenship”.

They say that equipment gets stuck in the fields and generally breaks down quickly. As proof, the authors cited a photo where the M2 Bradley BMP allegedly got stuck in the Ukrainian black soil. In the photo of the combat vehicle, one can see a white cross, allegedly proof that Ukrainian troops are using it. The authors also add that this is “a vivid demonstration” of how Western equipment is exploited in Ukraine. That is, they hint that all weapons and equipment quickly fail.

The specialists of the VoxCheck project took up this case, explaining that the white cross on the vehicle was added in a photo editor, and the photo shows the M2 Bradley in Baakub (Iraq) in 2006. That is, propagandists created a fake photo to confirm that “Western equipment cannot be used in Ukraine”. Of course, when using machinery on the field of battle, it can break or fail. However, propagandists exaggerate the significance of faulty equipment and explain this by its “absurdity”. Repairing equipment on the battlefield is quite understandable, because no one is protected from malfunctions. At the same time, propagandists want to prove that Russian technology is much better than Western technology, and it “does not break at all”.

By spreading this message, the authors seek to convince everyone of the effectiveness of Russian technology. It seems that it has no equal, but all Western equipment can be easily destroyed. Thus, the Russians want to create the appearance that the Russian troops are constantly winning. For example, we recently refuted a fake claiming that Russia “destroyed” five Patriot launchers.

Reports say that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyryl Budanov, announced his intention to exterminate three million residents of Crimea. Allegedly, he said that people in the Crimea will be "physically destroyed", as they are imbued with Russian propaganda. The authors refer to Kyryl Budanov's interview for the documentary film “Year” and add a video excerpt from the film. It's a lie.

The case was noticed by the VoxCheck project specialists, who found that the video had been edited. The phrase about the “physical destruction of people” was mounted on several different answers by Budanov. In fact, in an interview for the documentary film “Year”, Kyryl Budanov said that after the victory he plans to go to Sevastopol. However, he added that after the victory, the process of reintegration of Ukrainian territories would be lengthy. He did not mention the so-called destruction of civilians. However, he added that the physical destruction of enemies concerns Russian soldiers who committed war crimes in the temporarily occupied territories. These parts were compiled to make it look like Kyryl  Budanov is talking about killing civilians.

By spreading such a fake, propagandists seek to once again nourish the narrative about the existence of Nazi Ukrainians who are ready to kill civilians. Therefore, the Russians whitewash themselves and justify a large-scale war and daily war crimes. Allegedly, the goal of Ukraine is to destroy the Russians, so they are defending themselves.

Reports say European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell has allegedly offered to stop arms supplies to Ukraine in order to stop the war. The authors of the messages refer to the El Intermedio interview. This is manipulation.

The VoxCheck project drew attention to the case and determined that Josep Borrell did not say this in an interview. He explained that there are several scenarios for the end of the war, and in all possible scenarios the EU will help Ukraine. He also explained that “immediately” the war can be stopped if, for example, the EU does not supply weapons, and Russia seizes Ukraine. He further explains that this is not the end of the war, and such a scenario does not amount to a single victory for both the EU and Ukraine. That is, according to him, it is clear that such an option of ending the war is impossible. And the propagandists distorted the context of what was said and reported that supposedly the EU would not help Ukraine.

Thus, the propagandists are trying to show that everyone is already tired of constant assistance to Ukraine. Allegedly, the West is ready to stop the war and allow Russia to seize Ukraine.
