Fake Ukraine allegedly disrupted prisoner exchange again

Propaganda Telegram channels continue to spread a fake that Ukraine is allegedly disrupting the exchange of prisoners of war, citing fake lists of mobilized people who had no previous connection to the army. The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security writes about this.

In fact, Ukraine has consistently advocated for a prisoner exchange, and President Zelenskyi's proposal to exchange “all for all” is being ignored by Russia. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets noted that its statements about Ukraine's refusal to exchange are part of an information and psychological operation (IPSO).

In addition, the Kremlin manipulates the actions of relatives of prisoners of war to create tension in Ukrainian society, using them as a propaganda tool. The Kremlin actively spreads fake statements aimed at discrediting Ukraine on the issue of the prisoner exchange.

Message Russia's new disinformation campaign about women's mobilization

Propagandists stepped up their efforts in December, launching a new disinformation campaign about women's mobilization. This came after the military registration rules were updated, which apply only to voluntary basic training. The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security wrote about the selection of messages as part of the campaign.

A total mobilization of women is supposedly starting on January 1st

This is a baseless statement. According to the legislation of Ukraine, women can register for military service only if they wish and only if their professions correspond to military specialties. There is no provision for mass mobilization of women. The spread of this message is intended to create panic among women and their families.

Women are allegedly being forcibly mobilized and thrown into the barracks

Hostile propagandists cite stories or videos that are usually staged. Such statements are designed to instill fear of the authorities and military structures, although in reality women in Ukraine can only join the Armed Forces voluntarily.

90% of women supposedly die in the first minutes of combat

This is a false statistic used to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There is no confirmation or official data indicating such losses among women. On the contrary, women who serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine usually have a high level of training.

Women are allegedly being mobilized through deception

This message is aimed at discrediting state institutions, undermining trust in military commissariats, and creating an atmosphere of fear.

The general goal of such fakes is to undermine public peace, create distrust in the authorities, demoralize society, and create information chaos that is beneficial to Russia.

Disclosure How Russia hides losses among North Korean soldiers

Russian propaganda is deliberately hushing up the participation of North Korean servicemen in hostilities in the Kursk region, avoiding mention in state media and reports by military correspondents, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council writes.

According to the data available at the moment, the losses among North Korean soldiers amount to more than 200 people, including killed and wounded. This is evidenced by numerous videos showing the overcrowded hospitals created specifically for soldiers from the DPRK in the Kursk and Moscow regions.

Such facts emphasize the desire of the Russian side to hide the scale of the involvement of foreign forces by the aggressor and their losses, which confirms the lack of transparency in Russia's actions. Russian propagandists spread information about the participation of the North Korean military and hide their losses for several reasons. In particular, silencing losses allows creating the illusion of success on the front. Avoiding such topics helps to maintain propaganda without weaknesses that can be used for counter-narratives.

Fake Fake video of Ukrainian soldier claiming Russian captivity is “the best choice”

A video is being actively shared on TikTok, in which a Ukrainian serviceman allegedly talks about significant losses, criticizes the command, and claims that Russian captivity is the “best choice”. However, it is fake.

This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council. Its experts found that this video is the result of the use of deepfake technology. The analysis shows the unnatural pronunciation of the character, and other videos on the page confirm that its content was created for manipulation.

The main goal of this fake is to undermine trust in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, create panic among citizens, and demoralize the military. TikTok was chosen because of its popularity and the speed of information dissemination. Such deepfakes mislead people if detailed analysis is not conducted. The Center is working with the TikTok administration to reduce the amount of disinformation spread by Russian propagandists on the platform.
