Fake Russian books were banned in Ukraine

Some Russian mass media spread this information. The reports refer to a complete ban on distributing Russian-language literature in Ukraine.

Russian mass media claim that the prohibition is allegedly provided for by the law adopted on June 19, 2022. However, the amendments made to the Law "On Publishing" do not provide for the prohibition of Russian-language books. In fact, as StopFake writes, books in Russian were not banned in Ukraine. The country's authorities have banned importing literature published by publishers from Russia and Belarus. Texts in Russian (with some restrictions) can be imported from other countries and printed in Ukraine.
