Fake The German publication Die Welt called on Ukraine to recognize the "loss of Donbas"

Russian media and social networks write about this. Allegedly, the Western publication called on Ukraine to recognize not only the “loss of Donbas”, but also the “senselessness of the attacks on Kherson.” Like, "the Kyiv regime is not able to change Russia's success in the special operation." It is not true. In fact, Die Welt columnist Christoph Schilz emphasizes in the author's coloumn that Western countries are still not giving Ukraine enough weapons to turn the tide of the war. The main idea of the material lies in the title - "too little military assistance." The author says that Ukraine may lose its territories in the east, a significant part of the south is also occupied, and, in his opinion, there are no signs that the situation will change in the near future. Russian propagandists took these words out of context and gave them a different meaning. Shilts also believes that the West needs to make a decision - either to significantly improve the equipment of Ukraine with weapons in the near future, or leave Ukraine "at the mercy of the Russian military machine." That is, the publication Die Welt did not call on Ukraine to recognize the loss of territories, moreover, the author of the column called on the West, and Germany in particular, to supply Ukraine with more heavy weapons, and not be limited to "promises and speeches of solidarity." Russian propagandists systematically manipulate out-of-context quotes from Western media and politicians in order to pass off wishful thinking. Previously, using disfigured quotes, they claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi was about to step down at the start of a full-scale invasion. More details.

Message The main problem of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is “the depressed state of Ukrainian soldiers who do not see the prospect of victory”

Russian media "quotes" the Director of the Center for Intelligence and Global Affairs, Joshua Huminski, who allegedly called the condition of the personnel one of the key problems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It's like Huminski wrote about it for The Hill. Anonymous telegram channels added to the news that allegedly the Ukrainian military did not trust "neither Zelenskyi nor their commanders." Huminski's words allegedly confirm the results of a survey published in Deutsche Welle, which says that no more than 25% of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready to fight for Ukraine. The rest allegedly “sympathize” with Russia, or are “extremely passive” and “ready to show themselves to the enemy in order to stay alive.”

As the StopFake fact checkers checked, Huminski's quotes are distorted and taken out of context, and the statistics are made up. In fact, on August 24, The Hill published an article by Huminski entitled “How a long, cold winter could dampen Western support for Ukraine” in the “own thought” section of The Hill. The author reflects on how the countries that support Ukraine determine an acceptable political solution to end the war in Ukraine. He notes that now neither Ukraine nor Russia can end the war on the battlefield or create more favorable conditions for negotiations. He also noted that the West can provide Ukraine with all possible weapons, but cannot create more Ukrainians. These words were used by propagandists for manipulation, although the author of the article did not consider the emotional state of the Ukrainian army. Also, Huminski never spoke about the trust or distrust of the soldiers in the leadership of the state.

As for the statistics cited by propagandists, Deutsche Welle did not publish a survey on the motivation of the Ukrainian military or similar topics. In total, according to the results of sociological surveys, more than 90% of Ukrainians believe in the victory of Ukraine.

Russian propaganda systematically manipulates quotes taken out of context in order to pass off wishful thinking. Propagandists used similar tactics to convince Europe to force Kyiv to make concessions to Russia.

Disclosure The invaders illegally threaten the parents of schoolchildren with fines and deprivation of parental rights

In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, the occupying authorities are trying to reopen schools. According to the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, they want to open 4 schools, for which they will bring teachers from distant regions of Russia. As for pupils, due to the frantic "deficit" of schoolchildren, the occupiers are frightening parents that they will deprive them of parental rights. Letters are sent to parents stating that, allegedly, for not sending their children to Russian schools, they will first warn them, then fine them forty thousand rubles, and then deprive them of parental rights. Such threats are received not only by Melitopol residents, but also by the remaining families in Mariupol. The fact-checkers of the "Perevireno.Zaporizhyzhia" project received the lawyer's comments on this matter. He said that only Ukrainian legislation is in force in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Any legal norms of other states in these territories cannot be applied to citizens of Ukraine. According to the lawyer, in this way the invaders press and intimidate the citizens of Ukraine without any legal basis. The occupiers systematically manipulate the emotionally sensitive topic of child safety. Previously, fake reports were circulated that Zelenskyi ordered to start the full-time face-to-face studies from September 1. They also talked about the fact that supposedly Ukrainian children are taught to hate Russia from childhood.

Manipulation Ukraine intends to build NATO bases in Crimea

Russian media spread the news that the Ukrainian government allegedly wanted to “seize Crimea in order to build NATO bases on its territory.” Some media outlets cautiously wrote that they were allegedly talking about "ceremonial" and not "military" bases of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was announced by the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the current Deputy Chairman of the Center for Defense Strategies Alina Frolova. This is not true.

In fact, in a speech at one of the Crimean Platform panels, Alina Frolova drew attention to the fact that over the years of occupation, Crimea has turned into a Russian military base, which is damaging not only Ukraine, but also the security of the entire world community. According to the official, there is every reason to believe that tactical nuclear weapons capable of hitting the capital of any European state can now be deployed in Crimea. Frolova believes that the Crimean peninsula is a strategic foothold for security control in the Black Sea. Crimea should not be a military base, but its complete demilitarization after de-occupation is also impossible. In the future, the presence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy on the peninsula, the official proposes to introduce the principle of "friendly militarization" - that is, the friendly coexistence of civilian and military life.

“We want Crimea to be open to the international community – to NATO and the EU, including our military cooperation. NATO's lack of attention to the Black Sea showed that this was a misguided strategy, as the Black Sea is one of the biggest threats to the security of NATO countries. Therefore, we will welcome our partners from NATO and our other partners there,” said the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine. It was these words that the Russian media used to manipulate.

Russian propaganda constantly manipulates quotes from Ukrainian and Western politicians in order to pass off wishful thinking. Previously, propagandists used quotes from Dmytro Kuleba to promote the message that Europe allegedly abandoned the special tribunal over Russia and recognized the war in Ukraine as aggression. Using quotes from Western media, they tried to promote the message that the United States and Germany do not trust the Ukrainian authorities. More details.
