Fake Booking.com and KFC advertisements insulting Ukrainian women have appeared in Munich.

Photos of KFC and Booking posters allegedly installed at Munich train station in Germany are being spread on social networks. The posters show the founder of KFC lying in bed, and the caption states, "Chickens from Ukraine are very much awaited in Germany." According to StopFake fact-checkers, photos with this "poster" were also distributed by diplomats from the Russian Federation - on Twitter, First Deputy Ambassador of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy published one of these photos, commenting that this poster allegedly shows an objective attitude towards Ukrainians in Europe. "Russia's order Vasyl Nebenzya even referred to this" advertisement " in his speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council on combating sexual violence related to the war in Ukraine. However, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsya, noted that Russian diplomats are spreading another fake. In fact, the companies whose logos are on the images have nothing to do with this provocation. At least one of these advertising posters, allegedly placed in the central hall of the train station in Munich, does not exist - the photo, which is distributed online, was processed in a photo editor. Locals also confirmed the absence of this poster in the StopFake comment.

Fake Documents of the Azov Regiment were found in Mariupol, in which it is said that the local population is pro-Russian in 70% of cases

Russian media, in particular Ria Novosti, distributed fake documents of the alleged Azov Regiment found in Mariupol. These documents seem to be about preparations for hostilities in Mariupol and the suburbs. The fake document also states that "the local population is pro-Russian in 70% of cases." However, Russian propaganda made mistakes with the translation: although the "document" was written in Ukrainian, it was classified in Russian. "The documents have been given a strange stamp - "sekretnno " - instead of Ukrainian -" tayemno, " "the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council said.

At the same time, the thesis about "70% of the pro-Russian population" is also untrue, according to various surveys. Despite the high level of distrust in the government, Mariupol in 2021 had a positive or neutral attitude towards Ukraine. It should be noted that there were no solid pro-Russian sentiments before; according to a 2015 poll, most residents of the south-eastern regions do not see Donbas outside Ukraine; The 2016 poll shows that 72% of residents of the free territories of Donbas would like the region to be part of Ukraine. As of May 2022, in all regions of Ukraine, the vast majority of residents have a terrible attitude towards Russia; in particular, in the South, 90% have a bad mood, and in the East - 85%. 82% of citizens who continue to live in the territory occupied after February 24, 2022, have a negative attitude towards Russia, and only 6% have a positive attitude towards it.

Manipulation The photo with the Russians burning books on the history of Ukraine is indisputable

On May 21, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine, Melinda Simmons, shared a photo on her Twitter page with a demonstration burning of textbooks on the history of Ukraine and compared it to Nazism. In comments, pro-Russian accounts accused her of spreading fake. The photo was first published in July 2019 and depicted the burning of books in Kaliningrad. It had nothing to do with textbooks on Ukrainian history.

The ambassador distributed an original photo of the burning of books on Ukrainian history in Crimea in March 2010. Using the image search program, StopFake experts could find the earliest publications of this image on the Internet. They were taken in 2014.

An article from January 7, 2014, on the Censor.net website, is devoted to the torchlight procession of Russian nationalists in Crimea, who called for "expelling, sweeping away once and for all" Euromaidan.

"However, it was later established that the action to burn textbooks on Ukrainian history and other literature took place in March 2010. "Russian communities in Crimea, the «Russkyy blok,» and Natalia Vitrenko's party called on the newly appointed Minister of Education of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk to remove history books from the school curriculum put into circulation by former Minister Ivan Vakarchuk," Censor.net reported.

The participants of the action burned books "Modern History of Ukraine," "History of Ukraine," and Yaroslav Hasek's novel "The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schweik," translated into Ukrainian and physics textbooks. The article emphasizes that representatives of Russian communities regularly held similar anti-Ukrainian actions. Read more.

Manipulation Facebook and Instagram have banned Russians from accessing the song Stefania by Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra

Dozens of Russian media outlets wrote about the fact that Russians cannot listen to the song that won this year's Eurovision Song Contest on Facebook and Instagram. Their messages say that "access for Russians to the song of Eurovision 2022 winners - Ukrainian hip-hop group Kalush Orchestra is blocked in social networks Facebook and Instagram (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia)." Such messages also add that this track cannot be added to both social networks and cannot be listened to if you are in Russia. However, as it turned out, access to the song in social networks is blocked to Russians not by Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, but by the company that owns the recording. Since Sony Music suspended all operations in Russia on March 10, 2022 and does not release new content in the country, the winning track and is not available for Russians to listen to in social networks. This is not the first time Russia has spread fakes on social networks. In particular, a video of Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg with Russian voiceover was recently circulated on social networks, in which he allegedly says, Facebook is closing down and leaving Russia. However, this is also untrue

Fake Stern published a cover with Zelensky with the title "King of Lies"

The cover of the German magazine Stern with an image of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly titled "König der Lügen", translated as "King of Lies", circulated in social networks. According to Logically.ai, Zelensky was indeed on the front page of the magazine, but it was published under the title "Held der Freiheit", which translates as "Hero of Freedom".

Fake The United Kingdom won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022

The news that the contestant from Great Britain won the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, May 14, was spread by some Russian media. In particular, the publication "Uralinformbureau. The news on the site appeared an hour after the announcement of the final results of the song contest. The text said that the bearded Briton won, while Ukraine took only fourth place. However, the news did not specify that these were only interim results, which are established by the jury voting, but filed this fact as the final result of the contest. According to the results of the judges' vote, Ukraine, however, took only fourth place, but in the end, after the announcement of the results of the spectator vote, Ukraine was in first place in the standings. Later, the publication deleted the news, but in other texts it continued to manipulate the topic of Ukraine's victory at Eurovision. In particular, it said that the Eurovision organizers had rigged the scores in favor of Ukraine and Great Britain.

Manipulation The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture plans to withdraw Russian literature from libraries.

Pro-Kremlin media and Telegram channels spread information that "the Kiev government is once again engaged in a 'culture of cancellation,'" as the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture allegedly plans to withdraw Russian literature from Ukraine's library collections. In particular, the propaganda publication RIA Novosti reported that "works of Russian literature, which is considered propaganda," will be withdrawn. In fact, these statements are manipulation, reports StopFake.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Information Policy said that Ukraine will launch a process of removing Russian books from libraries, but it is not talking about all works of Russian literature, but only those that promote war and the elimination of Ukrainian statehood. The Council for the Development of Librarianship under the Ministry developed criteria, according to which books will be withdrawn. First of all, the works that meet one of these criteria will be withdrawn:

• whose content is aimed at eliminating the independence of Ukraine, propaganda of violence, inciting interethnic, racial, religious enmity, committing terrorist acts, encroaching on human rights and freedoms;

• propaganda of war, national and religious discord, changing the constitutional system or the territorial integrity of Ukraine by violence; contain justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, including by presenting the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine as an internal conflict, civil conflict, civil war, denial of temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine; glorify persons committing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, present;

• publishers, as well as authors to whom restrictive measures (sanctions) have been applied in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Sanctions";

• authors who publicly supported the aggression against Ukraine, information about which is publicly available on the Internet.

Apparently, the Russian language of the work is not a criterion according to which the Ministry of Culture will withdraw literature from library collections.The Council for Library Development, founded in April 2022, is engaged in the process of developing the criteria according to which literature will be withdrawn. They regularly publish information about their meetings on the official Facebook page of the Ukrainian Library Association. According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, libraries can create advisory bodies, which will give recommendations on how to update the library collection in the conditions of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Library Association says that the issue of removing propaganda literature from the libraries of Ukraine will be approached carefully and in a balanced way. Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Larysa Petasyuk confirms this: "Propaganda is a dangerous weapon. Today Russian lies poison everything around us. We have all the means to fight this phenomenon. The Ministry has defined clear criteria according to which Russian literature will be withdrawn from Ukrainian library collections. We approach this question carefully and in a balanced way. We hope that all this will have a positive effect on the development of Ukrainian book publishing.The Ministry of Culture reports that the withdrawn books will be replaced by Ukrainian works and books of Ukrainian publishers.

Fake The Ukrainian Armed Forces are creating a new call center and looking for employees with an anti-Russian stance.

According to the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Russian propagandists are spreading information that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are creating a call center and looking for workers there. "It is reported that the social networks are recruiting on behalf of the AFU to special call centers. The main selection criteria are knowledge of the Russian language and mandatory anti-Russian views. The tasks of the workers: to distribute fake messages about the bombing of Russian civilian facilities," the Center reported. The Center says that the "Kyiv regime" is thus creating a cyber army that will be equated with a terrorist organization because it will carry out sabotage and provocations in peaceful Russia.

Manipulation Pro-Russian rallies take place in Novaya Kakhovka.

According to the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, Russian propagandists are spreading information that people in Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast, are going to rallies "for Russia. According to the department, Russian propaganda is trying to create the illusion of support for the Kafirs by the citizens of Ukraine. "To the showy handouts of humanitarian aid and interviews with paid actors talking about the horrors of the Ukrainian authorities are now being added to the paid rallies. In contrast to the rallies of real Kherson Oblast residents, participants in the so-called pro-Russian rally are few in number, look confused, and show little enthusiasm. Next time the Russians will hire more protesters and put on music so they won't be bored," the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection reported. It should be noted that in Russian-occupied cities, Ukrainians fight back and come out to mass pro-Ukrainian rallies. There have been cases when the Russian military reacted aggressively to protests and opened fire on civilians. In particular, this happened in Kakhovka in early April.

Manipulation Ukrainian schoolchildren are learning fake history.

Russian propagandists disseminate the thesis that a fake history has been created for Ukrainian children. They draw such conclusions from the statements of Russian specialists who allegedly conducted a study and found that more than 300 Ukrainian textbooks contain false, fake historical facts. As ZMIST fact-checkers, who pointed out these reports, write, Russian propagandists complain that the modern Ukrainian educational system has been stripped of the remnants of Soviet propaganda and presents students with real historical facts.

For example, the Russian education minister said in a statement that Ukrainian schoolchildren are even "deprived of the opportunity to know that they can be proud of the shared history of Ukraine and Russia and figures like Yuri Gagarin" or proud of the feat of "common victory." "The argument about the 'inability to know about Yuri Gagarin' makes no sense at all, because the two most important people in the Soviet space program, the people who enabled Gagarin's flight - the Korolyov and Glushko - were Ukrainians, and whole sections of Ukrainian history textbooks are devoted to them," write ZMIST fact checkers. Ukrainian textbooks also have sections devoted to World War II. However, there are also sections about the crimes of the Soviet government against Ukraine and the Ukrainians. For example, we are talking about the subject of the Holodomor.
