The reports also allegedly refer to a statement by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kyrylo Budanov. However, this is not true. According to StopFake, Ukrainian intelligence released information about clerics of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) who collaborate with Russian propagandists and occupiers, noting that all criminals will be brought to justice. However, no "death penalty" was mentioned, because the death penalty has long been abolished in Ukraine, and the maximum penalty for crimes against the territorial integrity and population of Ukraine is life imprisonment.
